Adult Mosquito Control Applications

Protecting Public Health is Our Top Priority

Mosquito control applications may be conducted using truck-mounted, backpack, or aircraft equipment based on surveillance data or mosquito-borne disease activity indicating a threat to public health. Depending on the situation, treatments may target either mosquito larvae or adult mosquitoes.

Adult mosquito control applications are typically performed using truck-mounted equipment that disperses an ultra-low-volume (ULV) mist into the air. All public health pesticides used by the District are registered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and are selected for their effectiveness against mosquitoes while minimizing impacts on people, pets, and the environment.

Large-scale adult mosquito control applications are reserved for severe conditions, such as unusually high mosquito populations, elevated virus activity, or public health emergencies.
